Over the last year, I have tried to make all my shaft flexes uniform. My Iron shafts now frequency between 340-400 cpm, which is very stiff. I had a talk with Tad Moore, the club designer, who said he liked about 315 cpm and suggested I might like shafts about 350 cpm. I had four marginal Irons in my set which were all about 300-320 cpm that I have reshafted with stiffer 350-400 cpm shafts. Shaft flex is just as important in hickory shafts as in steel shafts. It is a good idea to make sure your shafts are the proper flex for your swing. My average swing speed with my Hickory Driver is 105 mph, down from a 115 average with a modern Driver. I have achieved speeds up to 130 mph with a modern Driver. I find it best not to try to press for extra distance with the Hickories as much as you might with more modern clubs
