New Playable Golf Balls
We have two new suppliers of playable balls.

Chris McIntyre has figured out how to take modern balls and remold them with old ball molds to more accurately reflect the look and performance of balls of the era. The balls that have previously been available poorly represented the performane of the balls they were intended to replicate. These balls will be a huge step forward in helping to authentically reproduce the game as played in the teen's and twenties.

Eric Wolke is following in David Hamilton's footsteps and is producing authentic new Gutty Balls. I highly recommend the Bramble pattern. If you own a Longnose Putter, you have to have one of these to putt with. The flight and landing of a real gutty when struck with an 1880's era club is something to behold. If you have read anything by Horace Hutchison on play during this era, after playing the real thing with the real clubs, it will make a lot more sense

Thomas "Tom" Bendelow
The Johnny Appleseed of American Golf

by Stuart W. Bendelow
An excerpt from Williams & Company, Publishers:
Once described as "an imposter, a rogue, a flim-flam con artist who never played golf," Tom Bendelow (1868-1936) is now recognized as the most prolific of course designers worldwide, a pioneer in the establishment and growth of the game in America, and a true renaissance person. Bendelow personally designed some 700 courses, taught course design at the college level, played the game with luminaries such as Harry Vardon...

New Questions
QUESTION:
Is it still possible to get the old balata covered wound ball?
Do you still have the capability to manufacture them?

ANSWER:
We made our last balata golf balls on March 16, 2001. Since then, all of
the processing equipment has been replaced with production lines for Pro
V1 golf balls. Since the manufacturing process is completely different for
the modern balls, we no longer have any way of producing balata balls. We
were the last holdout making balata balls, but the golf world turned the
page and so did we, by necessity.
